Going the extra 1,131 miles

G.I. Joe would be proud

Power-Gen

Any child of the ’80s knows that every G.I. Joe cartoon ended with a public service announcement counseling kids on how to react to potentially hazardous situations (Put reflectors on your bike; What to do if you catch on fire; Don’t hide in the refrigerator). Each lesson included the same familiar sign-off phrase: “Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.”

At Imaginasium, we like to think that we’re experienced, creative, and savvy marketers. But, unless we truly know and understand all the various target markets of a client’s business, we’re not going to help them win any battles.

In a recent move that would make G.I. Joe proud, Imaginasium Account Manager Darin Schumacher bravely escaped Wisconsin’s mid-December chill and traveled 1,131 miles to the POWER-GEN International Convention in New Orleans (fearlessly taking on the 70-degree temperatures).

The world’s largest power generation event, POWER-GEN attracts 17,000 attendees and 1,100 exhibiting companies from 76 countries. In short: this was the perfect opportunity to become immersed in unfamiliar territory to discover where the industry is heading and what its key influencers are thinking. The convention experience allowed Darin to learn, return with loads of information, and share with the Imaginasium team, which helps us tell our clients’ stories better.

As a bonus, the power generation industry is vital to several Imaginasium clients, so Darin’s trip was that much more valuable. Now, the entire firm knows the ins and outs of the power generation market. And, as G.I. Joe taught us decades ago, that’s half the battle.
