A big win—for the kids

On February 8, 2008, A Taste of Wine & Cheese attracted nearly 1,100 people to Green Bay’s Radisson Hotel during mildly taxing weather (then again, what weekend this winter hasn’t been freezing and snowy?)

Those in attendance—up 9% from 2007—sipped over 250 incredible wines, tasted mouthwatering cheeses, and sampled a variety of scrumptious appetizers. They enjoyed warm conversation and a silent auction of one-of-a-kind items. They even got into the spirit of the event by wearing temporary tattoos.

But most importantly, thousands of dollars were raised to help kids in our community because all proceeds help fund programs for The Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay.

For 10 years, Imaginasium has produced communications materials for the event, yet this year, the challenge was bigger. The Club expanded its expectations of A Taste of Wine & Cheese, and an increasing number of similar fundraising events have been occurring in the area.

In typical Imaginasium fashion, the company wasn’t satisfied with simply creating artwork and hoping people showed up. The firm created a fully integrated campaign, including posters, invitations, tickets, an e-mail invitation, print ads, and TV concepts to promote the 19th annual fundraiser.

“We enjoy the annual challenge of helping to increasing attendance at A Taste of Wine & Cheese,” said Imaginasium President Patrick Hopkins (also a Boys & Girls Club board member). “Many similar fundraisers take place in our area, yet there’s only so much support you can expect from local businesses and the ticket-buying public.”

“Our job is to keep Wine & Cheese positioned as the event of choice each winter. This year, our creative really stood out, enticing past attendees to return while attracting attendees who were new to the event. But ultimately, our work helped The Club’s Wine & Cheese team increase attendance overall, which means success for The Club. And, that’s what matters most to us,” Hopkins said. “Everybody worked hard for the kids. And everybody won,” he added.
