2008International award latest win for firmThe corporate brochure category is notoriously tough when it comes to advertising competitions. Although Imaginasium’s brochure for Valley Cabinet won Gold at the local ADDYs (see story here), we wondered how that piece would stand up to the scrutiny of international competition. Well, when entered in the Communicator Awards, the Valley Cabinet brochure earned an Award of Excellence (Gold), the highest honor in the competition.
For the past 14 years, the Communicator Awards, organized by the International Academy of the Visual Arts, has honored the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations, and identity work for print, interactive, and audio. This year, over 8,500 pieces were entered in the competition. The Award of Excellence is given to those entries whose ability to communicate puts them among the best in the field. Entries must score a 9.0 or above out of 10 to achieve the Excellence level. The Communicator Excellence Award is especially meaningful to the Imaginasium creative staff. Not only is a winning piece judged on its design, it must be exceptionally effective at communicating the client’s unique brand and attitude. “It’s particularly challenging to capture the subtle essence of a brand in a printed piece while also helping sell,” said Jon Stubb, Imaginasium’s Senior Art Director and creative lead on the project. “A reader has to instantly ‘get it’ and want to find out more about the products being featured. It’s rewarding to know that our peers appreciate how well the Valley Cabinet brochure does that.” |
