My Agency Can Run Farther Than Your Agency

During the chaotic daily experiences at a fast-paced marketing firm, Imaginasium associates have to rely on each other, trusting that a teammate will be there with valuable input and energy to keep a project moving smoothly.

That same trust was put to a different kind of test during the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon held on Sunday, May 18. A five-person relay team (three of them Imaginasium associates) ran varying lengths of the 26.2-mile course, finishing in 4:05:33. That time was good enough for 18th place in the relay competition portion of the event (1st in the “Corporate Division: Technology/Communications”).

Team Imaginasium—Art Director Jon Stubb, Graphic Designer Renae Geimer, Production Artist Kelley Rudolph, Jon’s brother Jeremy, and Renae’s brother-in-law Rob—took on the challenge for different reasons.

“I wanted to be part of something special. But, I didn’t want to take on the entire course by myself,” said Renae. “I’m not that ambitious,” she admitted.

“It was a motivating way to keep in shape. And, I like the team aspect of the event,” Jon said. “We were all at each handoff point, cheering on our teammates. We just drove to each exchange and made a fun morning of it,” he said.

All five ran the final mile of the race as a team, including one lap around the grass inside of Lambeau Field. “It was fun to finish together. And, to see the community come out to support the runners. Those were the highlights for me,” Kelley said.

Community support was also a motivating factor for Brand Distribution Manager Marla Maney, who ran the half-marathon in a time of 2:07:32. “The entire town gets involved, each neighborhood applauding louder than the previous one. I saw my house during mile two,” she said. Although not part of a relay team, Marla ran with a familiar partner (her husband, with whom she has run all her competitive races, including full marathons, 5Ks, and half-marathons). “Next year, we’re going to San Diego to try that marathon. I hear they have hills!” she said.

Finishing in a time of 2:04:40, Seismic Interactive Account Director Lynn Jones enjoyed the challenge of training for her first half-marathon. “I don’t consider myself a runner, so I’m thrilled I did it,” Lynn said. She appreciates the camaraderie she felt with Renae and Kelley during training, and she even got a boost from the relay team during the event. “I hit the wall around mile nine. That’s when Jon caught up with me and talked me through it. Then he sprinted away,” she laughed.
