Kids’ Artwork on Display

Is Green Bay home to a pre-teen Picasso? A wanna-be Warhol? A Matisse-in-the-making? It’s possible, and if so, one might find their earliest works displayed for all to see on the front windows of Imaginasium’s offices, 110 S. Washington Street in downtown.

For the next month, Imaginasium plays host to the traveling art show of the Boys & Girls Club of Green Bay, one of several businesses across the city to host the show since its start in January 2008. Ten years a sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club, Imaginasium is especially pleased to have this opportunity to support the work of these budding artists.

A primary mission of the Club is to expose its members to art in all its many forms. Through their Artists Series Instruction program, art and music coordinator Suriya Khong led the kids in an exploration of several of the world’s most important painting movements and artists.

“As the kids learned more about a particular movement, we would focus on five different artists from that period and the styles they contributed,” Khong said. “Once they were ready, we gave them paints and brushes, and let them try their hand at what they learned.”

And try their hands they did. Those walking by the Imaginasium windows will witness everything from Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism, to Fauvism and Pop Art.

“We think it’s important to let Green Bay know about some of the great things we do at the Club,” said Angie Pestka, Director of Special Events and Promotions, “and once again we were able to count on Imaginasium and the other participating area businesses to help.”
