2008Nice guys finish firstCan a business culture that celebrates a certain ruthlessness ever make room for caring and consideration in pursuit of success? Absolutely, according to “The Power of Nice: How to Conquer the Business World with Kindness.” Authored by a pair of New York advertising entrepreneurs, this interesting, insightful book tells of their company’s rise to the top of its industry by following a simple but oft-forgotten philosophy: It pays to be nice. Imaginasium President and partner Patrick Hopkins will lead a discussion of the book at the kick-off event of this year’s “Read to Lead” series, hosted by Current, the Green Bay young professionals network. The discussion takes place September 15, 2008, at The Daily Buzz in the Bellin Building, 130 E. Walnut, Green Bay, from 5:30-7 p.m. The book takes on many of the conventional wisdoms of getting ahead in business, filled with anecdotes from in which authors Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval achieved success not through intimidation, but with, as they say, “flowers and chocolates” — an approach Hopkins likens to that taken by Imaginasium. “Treating our clients and each other with kindness and respect is something I’m proud to say we’ve always made a point of,” says Hopkins of the downtown brand alignment firm he owns along with Creative Director Joe Bergner and Director of Business Development Denis Kreft. “Not only can each of us look in the mirror every day, but I’m convinced it’s played a significant role in our success.” If you want to know more about succeeding without sacrificing your integrity, take the time to be part of this great discussion, compliments of Current and the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. |
