Tyco Fire & Security/Ansul Inc.

As one of the world’s most innovative fire protection companies, Tyco Fire and Security has made developing products for under-served market niches a key component of their growth strategy. Such was the case of their all-new MAGNUM(tm) Rapid Intervention Vehicle (RIV).

Created under their trusted ANSUL® brand, the new MAGNUM 440 and 480 Rapid Intervention Vehicles (RIV) were re-introductions of those successfully marketed by ANSUL from the 60s until the early 1980s. By the late 90s, dozens of options existed for heavy, long-wheelbase vehicles suited to paved streets, open spaces and multiple crewmembers. But choices for a machine that packed plenty of fire-power (or fire-killing power more correctly) yet remained compact, maneuverable and responsive were few.

The whole idea of “preparedness” was changing in the minds of military, municipal and private firefighting teams and many were looking for just such a vehicle. Flexible, powerful and fully operable by a single firefighter, the four-wheel-drive ANSUL MAGNUM RIV of old was an idea whose time had once again arrived.

While the MAGNUM was still in development, Imaginasium was brought on board to help Tyco discover more about features customers wanted as well as exploring the full range of markets in greater depth.
